With an eye to the ground and then to the paper, Nessler's art
continues to explore
new directions. Her 28 years of experience are evident in her fresh
and spontaneous
charcoal drawings, the deeply moving and evocative paintings on dark
vellum, as
well as in the unique Edges collection. This particular collection,
using the edges
of the vellum skin, incorporates her paintings with selections of dried
seeds, flowers,
leaves or stems.
Kate lives in Kingston, Arkansas, USA, and her work is known and
collected world-
wide. Her most notable awards include three Gold Medals from the
Royal
Horticultural
Society, UK, and the 1997 Award of Excellence from the American
Society
of Botanical
Artists. In 2009 she received the Kendall Distinguished Alumni
Award from Kendall
College of Art and Design, Grand Rapids, MI, and in 2010 the
Ozarks
Ambassadors
Award from North Arkansas College, Harrison, AR. |
Her art is included in the permanent
collection of the National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington, DC;
The Hunt
Institute for Botanical Documentation, Pittsburgh, PA; The Shirley
Sherwood Collection, UK; The Lindley Library, UK;
The Morton Arboretum, Lisle, IL; The Brooklyn Botanical Garden Florilegium, NY; and
The Prince of Wales Highgrove
Florilegium, UK. Her work has appeared in many articles and
publications both nationally and internationally. She is
